Cardinals' Chase Edmonds to be "every-down backup" to David Johnson

Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Chase Edmonds is a potential every-down back backup to starter David Johnson in the eyes of head coach Steve Wilks.

What It Means:

"You want a guy... that you’re going to be able to use out in space, but most importantly, in pass protection," Wilks said. Edmonds got first-team minicamp reps with David Johnson in a contract dispute. He's the heavy favorite to be Arizona's second back over D.J. Foster and 2017 fifth-rounder T.J. Logan. Johnson's recent injury history makes Edmonds a high upside handcuff.

Our models project Johnson for 1,031 rushing yards and 9.2 touchdowns on 281 carries, adding 80 catches for 824 receiving yards and 4.0 touchdowns. He's our third-best fantasy running back this year.
