Olivier Vernon (ankle) officially out for Giants' opener
New York Giants defensive lineman Olivier Vernon (ankle) is out for Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Vernon is week-to-week with a high-ankle sprain. His absence from the Giants' front seven should make things easier for Blake Bortles and the Jaguars' passing game on Sunday.
Prior to this news, numberFire's models projected Vernon for 47.0 tackles, 9.3 sacks, and 2.1 forced fumbles over a 16-game season.
