4 Daily Fantasy Hockey Stacks for 10/22/19

The Bruins' top line is putting up points every game this season. Should they be considered the top stack on the slate?

When playing NHL DFS -- much like MLB DFS -- stacking is key. Having multiple players from the same team, who correlate together, can give your lineup upside and help you maximize potential points.

You can roster up to four players from the same team in NHL, and you should look to have players from the same forward line or power-play unit together. Shared ice time is the key, as it will maximize their ability to contribute to real-life goals with each other, ultimately leading to more fantasy points for us.

Generally, we don't see late scratches in the NHL, and the team's lines are confirmed at practice or before the game. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team.

Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins come in with the highest implied goal total on the slate sitting at 3.55, so you better believe we are looking to them tonight.

A large home favorite, high implied team, and ice-time correlation checks all the boxes we want when looking for stacking options. The Bruins' top line is showing to be one of the elite options this season -- as they have been for a few years -- and when they are at home, you shouldn't be passing them up.

Tonight, they are facing the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are on the second night of a back-to-back, which means they are likely down to their backup goalie -- Michael Hutchinson. As I said, you want the Bruins' top line any time they are at home, and now against a backup, they should have an alarm going off.

That top line consists of Patrice Bergeron ($7,500), Brad Marchand ($8,300), and David Pastrnak ($8,700), who are all on the top power-play with Jake DeBrusk ($4,800) and Torey Krug ($5,900). An absolute powerhouse of a stack -- which is very expensive -- but the first four players all lead the Bruins in xGoals this season, according to MoneyPuck.com. This is without a doubt one of the highest goal-scoring stacks you can find on this slate.

Buffalo Sabres

We have a 10-game slate tonight and ownership should be relatively spread out, presenting a nice opening for the Buffalo Sabres.

Nine of the 10 games on the slate have over/unders set at 6.0 or higher, meaning we should be in for plenty of scoring tonight. If there are that many options who are ready to score goals, no one team or line should dominate ownership, allowing you to take a stand and overweight the field. The Sabres have a 3.29 implied goal total tonight and are set to face off against Martin Jones -- who is allowing over three goals per game this season -- and is the 58th ranked goalie out of 63 this season.

The San Jose Sharks come in as the ninth-best team in terms of Corsi Against, meaning they aren't allowing a ton of shot attempts, but they are allowing the third-most High-Danger-Scoring-Chances per game. This is a bit odd to see, but it's something you want to jump on since the scoring chances being allowed are the most valuable and present the best goal-scoring opportunities. If we flip to the Sabres' skaters who lead the team in xGoals, you should look to target Jeff Skinner ($7,400), Jack Eichel ($8,200), Sam Reinhart ($5,600), Victor Olofsson ($6,200), and Rasmus Dahlin ($5,600).

Vancouver Canucks

A road team with a 3.07 implied goal total is worth taking a look at tonight.

That team is the Vancouver Canucks, who are looking good to start the year and in a spot to keep that rolling versus the Detroit Red Wings. So far this season, the Red Wings come in fifth-worst in Corsi Against and sixth-worst in goals against per 60, according to Natural Stat Trick. Giving up a ton of shots and goals is nothing new for the Red Wings, so we should look to attack them, as many playing NHL DFS have done for multiple seasons. Normally, I like to target forward line one while at home and forward line two on the road, due to the home team having last line change, but it's time to go against that. There is a steep drop-off in production and overall skill from the Canucks' first line to the second line, so stick with their best players.

Elias Pettersson ($6,500), Brock Boeser ($7,100), and J.T. Miller ($5,600) are that first forward line, with a cheap Quinn Hughes ($3,900) being the defender on the power-play. The pricing on this stack makes them very favorable tonight since you can pair them with a more expensive option.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins could be considered a bit of a dart throw tonight, but they are facing a goalie who can't get it together right now.

The Florida Panthers broke out the checkbook this summer to sign goalie Sergei Bobrovsky to a seven-year, $70 million dollar contract. He has started off the season allowing 3.66 goals per game and a save percentage under .890. Not the start Panthers fans were hoping for from the high-dollar signing, but for us, that means we want to stack against him. The Penguins have a 3.08 implied goal total, which isn't super high or super low and should go overlooked for the most part tonight. I love seeing a spot like this that no one will be on and is legitimately a good spot to attack.

If you look right to the top forward line, you have Sidney Crosby ($8,700), Jake Guentzel ($7,600), and Dominik Simon ($4,400). If you want to add a defender from the power-play, Kris Letang ($6,800) would normally be the answer, but in an effort to fit the Bruins or Sabres in tonight, Justin Schultz ($4,300) might be the answer due to his salary relief.
