4 Daily Fantasy Hockey Stacks for 11/1/19

Sebastian Aho can turn around his slow start to the season versus a weak Red Wings team. Which other stacks should you be looking at tonight?

When playing NHL DFS -- much like MLB DFS -- stacking is key. Having multiple players from the same team, who correlate together, can give your lineup upside and help you maximize potential points.

You can roster up to four players from the same team in NHL, and you should look to have players from the same forward line or power-play unit together. Shared ice time is the key, as it will maximize their ability to contribute to real-life goals with each other, ultimately leading to more fantasy points for us.

Generally, we don't see late scratches in the NHL, and the team's lines are confirmed at practice or before the game. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes are at home, and there's no better time to target a team that loves to shoot the puck.

A team I dubbed the Corsi Gods last season, the Hurricanes are a super strong team to target in DFS since they create shot attempts on top of creating shot attempts, and then create more shot attempts. You get the idea.

Tonight, they are facing off against the Detroit Red Wings, who are in the bottom-10 of the league in Corsi Against and are allowing more than three goals per game this season. All of this leads to the Hurricanes having an implied goal total sitting at 3.66 -- which is the highest on the slate.

While the second forward line for the Hurricanes lacks full correlation, their prices are very reasonable, and this group is viable in both cash games and tournaments. Center Sebastian Aho ($6,900) only has six points in 12 games this season but is averaging three shots on goal per game. He is flanked by wingers Andrei Svechnikov ($5,400) and value skater Warren Foegele ($3,200). Aho is on the first power-play unit, Svechnikov on the second power play, and Foegele isn't on either. They are lacking correlation, but the prices and matchup are top-tier tonight.

Philadelphia Flyers

Are the Philadelphia Flyers better than their record indicates?

Through 11 games this season, the Flyers have 11 points, which isn't amazing at all. But they are primed for a breakout soon for a few reasons.

First off, their top three forward lines are all rated seventh or higher, which flat out shocked me when I saw it. They are top-10 in Corsi For, fourth in Expected Goals For (xGoals), and are number-one overall in Corsi Against. So, what does this all mean? They are creating plenty of offense, should be scoring more goals than they actually are, and simply don't allow opposing offenses to create opportunities.

I say this with no exaggeration -- this team could win eight of their next 10 games, and it wouldn't be shocking.

They are up against the New Jersey Devils tonight. The Devils are one of the worst teams in the league and have allowed three goals or more in eight of their 10 games this season. You should be ready to stack against the Devils whenever they are on the slate.

If you are looking for a stack with full ice-time correlation, that is the top line for the Flyers. Claude Giroux ($7,600), James van Riemsdyk ($5,900), and Jakub Voracek ($6,700) is where you want to be spending your money for the Flyers. We have an over/under set at 6.5 in this game, and the offense should be heavily in favor of the Flyers.

Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks are a very exciting team to stack in DFS, and you need to hop on board.

The Canucks come into this game as the fourth-best squad when it comes to Corsi For, eighth in the number of High-Danger-Scoring-Chances created per 60 minutes, and sixth in xGoals. If you want a simple picture on what this all means, take a look at this and scroll down a bit to see the top-down ice picture. That shows where the Canucks generated their shot attempts in their most recent game, which is an overview of their entire season. This is good -- very, very good. Offensive pressure and quality scoring chances leads to plenty of goals.

it might not last all season long, but this is the time to jump on a team who is producing like this. The second forward line is where you want to focus since they have full correlation and are facing the Anaheim Ducks, who are the fifth-worst in Corsi Against. That second line consists of Elias Pettersson ($7,100), Brock Boeser ($7,300), and J.T. Miller ($6,200). They are starting to move toward being a very expensive stack, but over their last five games, the trio has six, 12, and eight real-world points, respectively.

New York Islanders

The New York Islanders certainly aren't an elite offensive team, but they have a good matchup tonight.

The Islanders don't really move the needle when thinking about stacking them, as they are sitting as the third-worst in the league in Corsi For. They simply don't generate a ton of offense, and that is reflected in the salaries of their players. They do have a very solid matchup, however, versus the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are in the bottom-10 in Corsi Against, xGoals Against, and High-Danger-Scoring-Chances allowed per 60 minutes.

Take the savings with the second forward line and pay up for other stacks elsewhere; it's really that easy tonight. Brock Nelson ($5,600), Derick Brassard ($4,400), and Anthony Beauvillier ($4,700) are the players to look at tonight, making this one of the cheaper stacks on the slate.
