3 Daily Fantasy Hockey Stacks for 11/15/19

When playing NHL DFS -- much like MLB DFS -- stacking is key. Having multiple players from the same team, who correlate together, can give your lineup upside and help you maximize potential points.

You can roster up to four players from the same team in NHL, and you should look to have players from the same forward line or power-play unit together. Shared ice time is the key, as it will maximize their ability to contribute to real-life goals with each other, ultimately leading to more fantasy points for us.

Generally, we don't see late scratches in the NHL, and the team's lines are confirmed at practice or before the game. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team.

Philadelphia Flyers

A five-game slate with two clear home teams to target, we want to consider pivoting to one of the road teams.

That road team to consider is the Philadelphia Flyers, who are on the road to take on the Ottawa Senators in what could be a higher-scoring game. A 3.48 implied goal total is strong, especially when it comes from a road team, so know that there will be a bit of ownership here. That higher implied goal is due to the fact the Senators are horrible on defense -- as I've noted many times and will continue to -- and give the opposing team a consistent opportunity to score fantasy points. The Senators are the second-worst team in the league with a 63.24 Corsi Against and the fourth-worst with 11.39 High-Danger-Scoring-Chances Against per 60 minutes. They have been one of the worst teams over the past few seasons and that isn't changing anytime soon.

The Flyers are around the league average in most offensive categories which indicate their production, making this the ideal spot for them. Their offense has flashed plenty of upside, but in general, they are good, not great. This is the type of matchup that will allow them to hit their ceiling in real life and in fantasy production. The first forward line for the Flyers is moderately priced tonight, which helps with fitting another stack into your lineup. Claude Giroux ($7,500), James van Riemsdyk ($5,200), and Joel Farabee ($3,600) have a combined nine points and 29 shots in their last five games. All of that should continue tonight given their matchup.

Pittsburgh Penguins

As we move to the other Keystone State NHL team, things are looking grim.

The Pittsburgh Penguins can't stay healthy this season, there is no other way to put it. They recently lost their captain Sidney Crosby for several weeks, which has shifted their lines a good amount. Their first power-play consists of Evgeni Malkin ($8,200), Jake Guentzel ($7,200), Alex Galchenyuk ($4,700), Nick Bjugstad ($3,700), and Justin Schultz ($5,000). As you can see, a few high-priced options, a few cheaper options, but overall, cheaper without Crosby. Some DFS players might think the line has taken too much of a downgrade in overall power with Crosby and won't want to play them. That could be proven true down the line, but they are up against a very weak New Jersey Devils lineup tonight, which should help the production.

The Penguins are on the road, yet find themselves with the third-highest implied goal total on the slate -- 3.42 -- and are -135 favorites. That should tell you enough about what Vegas thinks of the Devils and their lineup. The Penguins lost their best player due to injury and they are still projected to win.

Washington Capitals

The Washington Capitals are somewhat like the Kansas City Chiefs, always a high implied team total, expensive, and should be popular.

To say the Capitals are off to a hot start this year, would be a vast understatement. After finishing last season with a first-round playoff exit, their offense isn't leaving anything to chance and are averaging 3.95 goals per game to start the season. That has propelled Washington to the best record in the entire league, looking as dominant as ever. We should be in for a very fast-paced game tonight as both teams are in the top-11 in Corsi For and the same goes for Corsi Against -- both bottom-11. This means both teams like to generate plenty of shot attempts, while also allowing plenty of shot attempts. All offense, no defense tonight.

When looking at the Capitals, you go straight to the first power-play and almost don't consider anyone else. Alex Ovechkin ($8,800) is a hat-trick waiting to happen and you can't pass that up. John Carlson ($7,200) is aiming for the Norris Trophy this season and has 30 points in 20 games. T.J. Oshie ($6,400) should be scoring more than he is right now and due for a bit of puck luck. Nicklas Backstrom ($5,800) can be hit or miss but you can't pass up full ice-time correlation.
