4 Daily Fantasy Hockey Stacks for 11/19/19

A massive 13-game slate has plenty of options to consider, along with the potential for massively under-owned teams

When playing NHL DFS -- much like MLB DFS -- stacking is key. Having multiple players from the same team, who correlate together, can give your lineup upside and help you maximize potential points.

You can roster up to four players from the same team in NHL, and you should look to have players from the same forward line or power-play unit together. Shared ice time is the key, as it will maximize their ability to contribute to real-life goals with each other, ultimately leading to more fantasy points for us.

Generally, we don't see late scratches in the NHL, and the team's lines are confirmed at practice or before the game. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes are one of the better offensive teams in the league and have the fifth-highest implied total -- 3.42 -- on the slate.

There are so many home teams with high implied goal totals tonight, it can be tough to look towards a road team, but the Canes are one to trust tonight. They hold the fifth-highest Corsi For (Shot Attempts) per 60 minutes this season, which is right where they were last year. They are essentially the Lil John of the NHL -- Shots, Shots, Shots. They generate offensive pressure at every point in the game -- early, late, winning, or losing, it doesn't matter. Shot attempts, lead to shots -- aka fantasy points -- all of which lead to the potential to score goals.

They are up against the Chicago Blackhawks, who are in the bottom-eight or worse when it comes to the three major categories we look towards for potential fantasy production, Corsi Against, xGA (Expected Goals Against), and High-Danger-Scoring-Chances allowed per 60. This is the ideal matchup, and if the Hurricanes were at home, we would see their goal total closer to 4.00. The game has an over/under of 6.5 tonight, so we should be seeing a decent -- but not overwhelming -- amount of ownership in this spot.

The second forward line is the spot to target, as they are all on the first power-play, allowing that sweet potential to double-dip on assists/goals. Sebastian Aho ($7,100), Andrei Svechnikov ($6,400), Teuvo Teravainen ($6,600), and Dougie Hamilton ($6,800) are the players to focus on tonight.

Vegas Golden Knights

Here's an accurate take, which in no way is hot: the Toronto Maple Leafs are horrible on defense.

Oh, boy. Toronto looks like a minor league team recently and have lost five straight games, allowing four goals or more in four of those five games. The defense has never been the strong point of their team in recent years, but it looks especially bad this season. They have almost no ability to stop opposing teams, shown most notably here, which shows the shot chart from their most recent game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. As you can see, the Penguins set up shop right in front of the net and the Maple Leafs didn't seem to mind.

If this is going to continue to be the case, we want the first forward line for the Vegas Golden Knights, as they boast a 3.48 implied goal total tonight -- the second-highest on the slate. William Karlsson ($6,500), Alex Tuch ($4,500), Reilly Smith ($5,400), and Jon Audy-Marchessault ($6,700) are on the first power-play, with Karlsson and Smith are on the first forward line together. They should be good in cash games as well tonight.

Florida Panthers

It's time to hop on board with the Florida Panthers tonight and going forward.

The Panthers were the talk of the offseason, grabbing a new coach and spending a Brinks truck on Sergei Bobrovsky, but then started the season 2-5. They've very slowly got things going in the right direction and have won five of their last eight games, scoring four or more goals in each win. Their offense is clicking right now and for my money, their top forward line could be one of the more underrated in the league. That line consists of Aleksander Barkov ($8,300), Jonathan Huberdeau ($7,400), and Evgeni Dadonov ($6,200), who have 19 points and a staggering 47 total shots in their last five games.

They are at home tonight with a 3.45 implied goal total and up against the Philadelphia Flyers, who seemingly go through stretches of hot or cold every season and are in the midst of a cold streak. The Flyers couldn't be more average if they tried and are not a team to worry about defensively. This stack should be good in all formats.

Detroit Red Wings

If you are planning on watching any NHL tonight, don't watch this game, please.

The Ottawa Senators are the fourth-worst team in the league, while the Detroit Red Wings are the second-worst team in the league. This isn't going to be a high-quality game by any means, but we should see an opportunity for fantasy production here. Both teams allow too many shots and too many goals, but we'll side with the home Red Wings and their 3.39 implied goal total. If you decide to look here for a stack, go right to the top forward line and don't look anywhere else.

Dylan Larkin ($6,600), Anthony Mantha ($6,800), and Tyler Bertuzzi ($5,400) aren't too expensive and come in with a surprising 16 points and 36 shots in their last five games. Add defender Dennis Cholowski ($3,700) onto that stack simply since he is so cheap and on the first power-play with them.
