4 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 2/10/20

Jonathan Drouin is min-priced and makes for an incredible value. Who are some other value skaters to take a look at tonight?

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars

Nick Schmaltz, Center, Arizona Coyotes

FanDuel Price: $4,100

When Nick Schmaltz was traded to the Arizona Coyotes last season, he came in hot and put up 14 points in 17 games. This season, the points per game pace has clearly not been as great, but 38 points in 57 games is still very solid. The 8 goals and 70 shots leave a lot to be desired, but he's not being relied on as a goal-scorer so that is okay.

Right now Schmaltz is slated to play on the Coyotes third-line at even strength, which is fine. However, he plays on the team's top power-play unit — despite how bad that power play actually is. However, anytime you're put in a position that is beneficial offensively, it is not a bad thing.

Alex Killorn, Winger, Tampa Bay Lightning

FanDuel Price: $4,600

The Tampa Bay Lightning will be without Steven Stamkos tonight, which will see Ondrej Palat move up to the top line with Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point. With this move, it puts Alex Killorn into the top six and on a line with Anthony Cirelli and Tyler Johnson which is pretty solid.

Simply getting the extra even-strength ice-time is great, but Killorn also gets to play on the team's top power-play unit which is fantastic. Playing with elite players like Kucherov and Point, along with Victor Hedman puts Killorn in a great spot as he looks to continue his career season. He has 21 goals — already a career-high — in 53 games and his 41 points are just six shy of his career-high from two seasons ago.

Jonathan Drouin, Winger, Montreal Canadiens

FanDuel Price: $3,000

It appears as though FanDuel has not adjusted for the fact that Jonathan Drouin is off of the injured reserve list. This is certainly a misprice here and makes Drouin an essential lock on most teams. Prior to his injury, he had put up 7 goals and 15 points in 19 games while firing off 44 shots. He played just 11:49 in his first game back and is slated to play on the third line, but as he gets healthier, his average time on ice will shoot up.

For now, you need to take advantage of this price point and in addition, he plays on the team's second power-play unit that sits just below league-average ranked 19th.

Quinn Hughes, Defenseman, Vancouver Canucks

FanDuel Price: $4,900

As always, it needs to be prefaced that Quinn Hughes needs to get on the scoresheet for his value to be met as he averages just 1.89 shots per game and 0.62 blocks per game. However, it is incredible 41 points and 55 games as a rookie defenseman that we have fallen in love with.

The 20-year-old defenseman quarterbacks the Vancouver Canucks top power-play unit, one that converts on 22.9 percent of their opportunities — good for 8th in the NHL. This is an elite matchup for this power play as the opposing Nashville Predators have a horrific 74.3 percent penalty kill which ranks 30th in the NHL.
