3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 1/27/21

Even with just two games on the NHL DFS slate tonight, there is still value to be had. So, who can you trust tonight?

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's larger slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Wednesday night features two contests on the slate. Let's hunt for values!

Brandon Sutter, Center, Vancouver Canucks

FanDuel Salary: $3,500

The value here is the low salary and little else. Sutter had a hat trick in the last game versus the Ottawa Senators. What may be just as significant is the fact that Sutter is averaging over 15 minutes a night in his middle-six role. That equates to more opportunities (nine shots, six scoring chances) in the last three games.

He has four goals in this span. These are the two worst teams in the league when it comes to goals allowed per contest (4.5 goals per game for Ottawa). With this short slate and how these miniseries work, taking another shot at the value is a better choice than normal.

Mattias Janmark, Wing, Chicago Blackhawks

FanDuel Salary: $3,500

The Chicago Blackhawks forward is now seeing ice time on the top line in Chicago. He has rewarded fantasy players the last three games with 15-plus FanDuel points in each contest. His salary has not risen very much at all on FanDuel, which will help one save tonight.

With the Nashville Predators having their issues on defense and particularly special teams, rostering a speedy winger like Janmark can pay dividends. Janmark has five shots and four scoring chances in this span. Nick Paul ($3,600) may prove to be a viable option from Ottawa, as he has seen an increase in ice time.

Kevin Lankinen, Goalie, Chicago Blackhawks

FanDuel Salary: $7,100

There are not too many value options from the goaltending position, but Kevin Lankinen may be one, especially if Nashville fires almost 40 shots on net again. The goalie has won his last two starts while yielding just 3 goals on 58 shots. This is an extreme risk pick for Wednesday night as is any of the four starting goalies.

With these lower salaries, it is important to mention that every goaltender is at $7,700 or below tonight. Would this be a night to take a risk on whomever starts for Ottawa? Maybe. Maybe not. If one is going to try a safe bet, maybe see who is confirmed for Nashville first. Chicago likely will fire more than 20 shots on net and did generate better chances after they started dreadfully.
