Ducks' Nate Thompson gets 3-game ban for illegal hit

Anaheim Ducks center Nate Thompson has been suspended for three games for an illegal check to the head on Carolina Hurricanes' Justin Faulk.

What It Means:

The illegal hit happened on Friday night and Thompson was given an elbowing major and ejected from the game. The first game he will be eligible to play in will be on Tuesday, December 22, when the Ducks take on the New York Rangers.

Thompson has played in just four games this season after recovering from shoulder surgery, and has two points, both of which are assists. He scored 18 points last season (5 goals, 13 assists) in 80 games played, which was the second best total of his career and the highest since the 2010-11 season. Unless he plays his way off of the fourth line, he won't offer any fantasy value.
