Brandon Sutter

Brandon Sutter (jaw) is out for six to eight weeks for Vancouver

Vancouver Canucks center Brandon Sutter has undergone jaw surgery and will need six to eight weeks to recover.

What It Means:

This timetable means Sutter might not be able to return before the regular season ends, and he has been placed on the injured reserve list. Sutter is a vital player for Vancouver as he logs significant minutes on both power-play and penalty kill situations. With Sutter and teammate Alexander Edler both battling long-term injuries, the Canucks face a tough task in their battle for a playoff spot. They are currently two points out of the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.

Sutter has just nine points (five goals, four assists) this season, but he has also only played in 20 games. His Corsi For Percentage is 50.5, and his Relative Corsi For at Even Strength is -2.5, both of which are career highs. Our metrics currently give Vancouver a 38.32 percent of making the playoffs.
