Florida inks Jaromir Jagr to 1-year extension

Florida Panthers winger Jaromir Jagr has agreed to a one-year extension with the club.

What It Means:

The financial terms of the deal weren't revealed, but Jagr came with a $3.5 million base salary in 2015-16 and could earn another $1,905,000 in performance bonuses. Although he's 44 years old, Jagr is coming off of a great season where he tallied 27 goals and 66 points in 79 contests. He currently ranks third on the all-time list in points with 1,868, which is just 19 shy of Mark Messier and the number two spot. "Jaromir has had a tremendous influence on our younger players and has been a key offensive contributor on our team," Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said. "We are happy to have him back as we look to build off this year’s playoff appearance."

Jagr continues to defy Father Time, as his 66 points were the most on the Panthers, and he was decent at driving possession as well. His Corsi For Percentage was 51.2 and his Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength was 2.8, although both totals were below his career averages.
