Patrick Marleau stays hot, nets a goal as Sharks fall

San Jose Sharks forward Patrick Marleau found the back of the net in the Sharks' 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 1 Monday night.

What It Means:

Marleau now has five goals and 13 points in 19 playoff games. Tomas Hertl scored the Sharks' other goal. Brent Burns assisted on both markers. Logan Couture and Joonas Donskoi each registered an assist.

It was not a good season for Marleau, who totaled 48 points -- 25 goals and 23 helpers -- in 82 regular-season games this year. The 48 points marked his lowest full-season total since the 2007-'08 campaign. Marleau's 51.0 Corsi For Percentage and -3.1 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength were both career-worst numbers.
