Sharks coach Peter DeBoer attributed Hertl's absence to maintenance, but he didn't confirm that he would play in Game 3 on Saturday. He has six goals and 11 points in 20 playoff games. Melker Karlsson filled in for Hertl on a line with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski during the skate.

Hertl tallied the most points of his career in the regular season, recording 46 points (21 goals, 25 assists) in 81 games played. He was excellent at driving possession as well, posting a Corsi For Percentage of 56.1 and a Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength of 3.3.
