Kris Russell returns to Calgary on a two-year agreement

The Calgary Flames signed defenseman Kris Russell to a two-year deal.

What It Means:

The Flames sent Russell to the Dallas Stars at the trade deadline -- and received a large return -- but he'll return to the club he spent the previous three seasons with. The specifics of the contract are not yet available.

Russell tallied 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists) overall last season, and just four assists in 11 games with the Stars. His possession stats left much to be desired, as his Corsi For Percentage was just 45.0 and his Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength was -4.7.
