FanDuel Premier League Value Plays for Matchweek 3

Value plays are often the difference on the FanDuel leaderboard. With this year's format, value plays will be priced at $12 or lower in most cases. There will be some exceptions along the way.

This article will cover FanDuel's main slate that begins Saturday at 10:00 a.m. EST.

Marcus Rashford ($24) is the most expensive player on the slate. He surpassed Mohamed Salah ($22) in price this week despite a lackluster game last week. Trent Alexander-Arnold ($18) is the most expensive defender on the slate. The keeper list is topped by David De Gea ($16).

Let's look at where the value lies in Matchweek 3.

Forward/Midfielder

Matteo Guendouzi, Arsenal ($12)

Guendouzi is a solid defensive midfielder when Arsenal are pressured, and they should be pressured a lot at Liverpool. He has limitations going forward, but these teams have some of the biggest offensive threats in the league. With that in mind, this could be a very open game that requires Guendouzi to track all around the field. He loves the ball at his feet and taking on other players. Guendouzi is said to be leading the Unai Emery revolution at Arsenal. He started 23 games last year was fouled twice a match while averaging just over three defensive actions. Guendouzi may not be a guaranteed starter when Arsenal is fully healthy, but he is maturing well in the Premier League.

Solly March, Brighton ($12)

March has started the season well, finding the space on the outside through overlapping runs. He recorded eight crosses last week and created two chances. March played more defensively in the opener, notching four tackles and eight total defensive actions. He has shown he can be a versatile player, and he had a career-high five assists last year. He averaged over one key pass and one shot on goal, as well. March is being played on the outside of midfield in a creative role, working a partnership with Leandro Trossard ($14). Southampton have allowed five goals and have lost both games to start the season, so March can keep it rolling here.

Will Hughes, Watford ($10)

This is a risk as Watford are off to a horrible start through two matches. Hughes' best stat category is fouls drawn as he has been fouled three times each match. Hughes is a creative player, and that is what Watford will need to break out of their early slump.

He has had at least three assists in each of the last three seasons, with a career pass percentage success rate over 83%. Watford are favored to win against West Ham, as well. Make note that record-signing Ismaila Sarr ($10) is close to gaining fitness, which could shake up the lineup.

Defender

Caglar Soyuncu, Leicester City ($10)

Soyuncu has averaged near 13 FanDuel points in both games thus far, with his overall defensive numbers being higher last week. He has been one of the best Leicester players through the first two games of the season. He leads the team in average clearances per match (4.5) and now averages eight defensive actions total. He also leads the team in pass success percentage. Sheffield United forced 25 clearances last week but held only 42% of possession. That bodes well for Soyuncu, who should still have a chance at defensive actions and a potential clean sheet. FanDuel Sportsbook has a Leicester clean sheet at two of the three most likely scorlines.

Enda Stevens, Sheffield United ($10)

Stevens has acquitted himself well to life in the Premier League as a decent performance in Matchweek 1 turned into a really good game last time out. Stevens created one chance to go along with six defensive actions. He was tied for the team lead in tackles, playing as an outside left midfielder/wing-back hybrid with Sheffield favoring a back three. The advanced position gives the 29-year-old Irish defender more value. However, Leicester nearly matched Chelsea in possession last week and had 70% of the ball in their opening match. Stevens will have to be on his toes defensively all match and might join the rush on a counter attack.

Keeper

Ben Foster, Watford ($8)

The trend through two weeks is that the high-priced keepers are earning the most points. Foster is at the lowest salary for an expected starting keeper, as he should be. He is actually averaging negative points through two weeks. It is hard to believe that Watford have been as bad as they have so far this season after a club-record 11th-place finish in 2018-19. West Ham's 13 shots through two games are the second-fewest in the league, though one match was versus powerhouse Manchester City. This is a good time for Foster to find his form, and his salary helps you pay up elsewhere.
