4 FanDuel Premier League Studs to Target for Matchweek 6

Everton are healthy home favorites versus Sheffield United, giving Lucas Digne a massive ceiling. Who else should you zero in on for Saturday's four-match main slate?

As is the case when playing any sport on FanDuel, it’s imperative to hit on high-priced studs, the players in which you’ve made the biggest investment. This is especially true with forwards in soccer. Not only are the top-end forwards expensive, they are the ones most likely to put the ball in the back of the net, and goals are often the difference between winning and losing in DFS.

This article will cover FanDuel's main slate, which begins Saturday at 10:00 a.m. EST and features only four matches.

Matchweek 6
Saturday, September 21st
Watford at Manchester City
Sheffield United at Everton
Norwich City at Burnley
Brighton at Newcastle

This won't surprise anyone, but Manchester City are the slate's biggest favorite, per Soccer odd, listed at -1000 to win at home against Watford, implying win odds of 90.9%. Everton are the next biggest favorite (-150), with implied win odds of 60.0%. Burnley (-105) hold 51.2% implied win odds while Newcastle (+145) are a slight favorite over Brighton (+200)

Let’s take a look at some high-priced players -- all across the pitch -- who, despite costing a good chunk of change, are worth the investment.

Sergio Agüero, FWD, Manchester City

FanDuel Price: $23

City are going to be the chalk on this slate, and they should hammer Watford. A year ago, when Watford were flying high on their way to a club-record finish in the EPL, these two met in the FA Cup Final, and City thrashed the Hornets, 6-0, in a match that wasn't as close as that score indicates.

There is a key thing to note here with City -- they may rotate the squad after a Wednesday night European match in Ukraine. Fortunately they play at 10 a.m. EST, so we'll know their lineup right away, but even some of their guys who aren't usually starters are fairly expensive, so they'll offer plenty of high-priced plays regardless of what lineup they roll out.

Agüero will likely be in the starting XI after he sat out of the aforementioned UCL match. He has seven goals in five appearances (four starts) in EPL play and could go nuts here.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, MID, Everton

FanDuel Price: $17

The Toffees (-150) are the slate's other big favorite as they host Sheffield United. Everton should control this match, and Sigurdsson is awfully appealing in this one. Not only should he be on the ball plenty, he also handles penalties and takes some corners, making him a very well-rounded fantasy contributor.

For the season, the Iceland international has just one assist and no goals, but he's placed three shots on target and is a year removed from a 13-goal, six-assist campaign. He created five chances in Everton's last home match, which was against Wolves, and he should be active in this one.

Joelinton, FWD, Newcastle United

FanDuel Price: $17

Could I list another Manchester City player? Absolutely. But you know to target City this week, so let's look elsewhere.

Newcastle are at home against Brighton, and they are +145 to win. That doesn't jump off the page, obviously, and it could lead to the masses leaving this game alone, even with just three other fixtures to choose from. But there are reasons to feel good about targeting Newcastle attackers in this spot.

Since an unexpected 3-0 win at Watford in the opening week, Brighton are winless, including a 2-0 home defeat to Southampton, a 4-0 loss at City and a 1-1 home draw with Burnley. Newcastle haven't fared much better, of course, but they did win 1-0 at Spurs and had a solid start at Anfield last weekend before falling 3-1.

In his first season with the Magpies, Joelinton has netted a goal with three shots on target across his first five starts. He has created at least one chance in each of his last four outings, and he blew up for 34.9 FanDuel points in the game in which he made the net bulge.

Priced just $1 cheaper than City's Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva, Joelinton is more of a GPP play because the floor is scary, but a home matchup with Brighton is one of the best spots Newcastle will be in all campaign.

Lucas Digne, DEF, Everton

FanDuel Price: $16

Without many big-name attackers on this slate, it's not too hard to find cash to pay up for Digne. The left-back has at least 14 FanDuel points in four of five matches, and he's got big outings of 27.3 and 29.7 FanDuel points this season.

Since a meh 9.3-point output in Matchweek 1, Digne has been credited with 11 total chances created over the last four matches, tallying at least two in every game, and he's notched a pair of assists in that span.

He finished 2018-19 with four goals and four assists in 33 starts, and Digne's free-kick ability, as well as his corner duties, give him monster upside. In a match in which he should be getting forward frequently, he makes for a great play against Sheffield United and is an ideal stacking partner with any of Everton's attackers. He has decent clean-sheet odds, too, and can be paired with keeper Jordan Pickford ($13) in an effort to double up on the clean-sheet bonus.
