DraftKings Champions League Daily Fantasy Soccer Helper: Tuesday 11/26/19

Gabriel Jesus looks like a good option for Manchester City with Sergio Aguero banged up. Who else should we target?

The UEFA Champions League is back for Matchday 5. The group stage is coming to a close, and we have a better idea of who will be advancing to the knockout rounds. That could impact who is on the pitch for some of these teams, as some sides may choose to rest important players if they are already in position to qualify from their group. Let's see who should be on the pitch and who we want to play on Tuesday.

Forwards to Target

Robert Lewandowski ($10,700): Lewandowski and Bayern Munich travel to Serbia to face FK Crvena Zvezda (aka Red Star Belgrade). Until Saturday, Lewandowski had a goal in every league and Champions League match he had played in this season. The streak came to end, but he could easily start another one in this game. FanDuel Sportsbook tells us that he is an overwhelming favorite to score, with -320 anytime goal-scoring odds. He's the top play at the forward position given his matchup.

Gabriel Jesus ($8,600): With Sergio Aguero out for a few matches, Jesus should be in line to start up front for Manchester City at home against Shakhtar Donetsk. Jesus gives players who roster him a $1,400 discount down from Aguero's price. Man City are -650 favorites to win this game, with Jesus having the best goal-scoring odds (besides Aguero). Jesus had a hat trick in last year's group stage match at home against Shakhtar. With the way Manchester City dominate possession and create chances, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him score multiple goals again on Tuesday.

Luis Muriel ($6,700): Atalanta have been disappointing in their first ever Champions League campaign, failing to win any of their four matches thus far. They are -195 favorites on Tuesday against Dinamo Zagreb, however, and could put up at least a few goals. Luis Muriel is their leading goal scorer in Serie A, with eight goals in eleven appearances. Atalanta have scored 31 goals in Serie A, the most of any club. They should be able to get their attack working again, and Muriel would be the main man up front looking to bag a goal.

Midfielders to Target

Kevin De Bruyne ($9,500): De Bruyne hasn't hit the heights of his normal Premier League fantasy outputs in the Champions League, but there's no reason that should continue. With Manchester City as big of favorites as they are, KDB should be able to rack up fantasy points like we know he can. He leads the Premier League in corner kicks and assists. City's implied goal total is hovering around three, and De Bruyne should be involved in the attack enough to make him worth rostering.

Alejandro Gómez ($7,400): Gómez is another Atalanta player worth considering. He is their creative force, taking the majority of their corner kicks. He also contributes to goals, scoring four himself and getting five assists in Serie A this season. You can pair him with Muriel in tournament lineups and hope for a goal and assist from the combination, which could shoot your lineup up the leaderboard.

Marko Marin ($6,300): Marin is able to get fantasy points despite usually being on an underdog side like Red Star. He has proven he can still hit his floor against the big boys, with six shot assists and seven crosses away to Tottenham on Matchday 3. This match at home against Bayern Munich looks like a tough spot again, but Red Star have been a good home team in the Champions League. He is a value play with a decent floor who also could provide an assist if Red Star were to score a goal or two.

Defenders to Target

Serge Aurier ($4,900): Tottenham are a team we haven't discussed yet, but they should be looked at as a home favorite against Olympiacos. Serge Aurier is a defender who loves to get forward, and he got an assist in his last Champions League match. He's fourth on Spurs in crosses in the Premier League, and he's played in only eight games. Tottenham are favored to get a clean sheet in this game, which would give Aurier a three-point bonus.

Santiago Arias ($4,300): Atletico Madrid face a tough task going to Turin to battle Juventus. This is likely why Arias has been priced down to $4,300. He has shown his ability to attack in other Champions League matches, with six crosses and three shot assists against Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 4. If Atletico Madrid start chasing the game, Arias could push forward again and be forced to play crosses into the box. The discount on Arias is worth considering.

Goalkeepers to Target

Wojciech Szczęsny ($5,100): Szczęsny is the favored goalkeeper in the match with the lowest total on the slate. His Juventus side has the reputation of being one of the best defensive teams in Europe, and they have conceded just 10 goals in 13 league games this season.

José Sá ($3,700): José Sá is the sacrificial-lamb play of the slate, going against Tottenham. Last match against Bayern Munich, he made nine saves and got 14.2 Draftkings points despite losing 2-0. Now he goes against a Tottenham team and could face a similar amount of shots. If he's able to make a decent amount of saves, he will definitely pay off his price tag, even if he lets in a few goals.
