DraftKings Daily Fantasy Soccer Helper for Matchweek 15
December is here, which means a lot of Premier League soccer. The first midweek fixtures take place this week, with the highlight being a six-game slate on Wednesday. Chelsea, Leicester City and Liverpool are the biggest favorites on the slate, according to the odds on Soccer odd. Those will be the main teams to target on this slate, but let's see what other teams and players look good for Wednesday.
Forwards to Target
Jamie Vardy ($9,400): Jamie Vardy has certainly been having a party in the Premier League this season. He has 13 goals in 14 matches, including at least one in each of his last six games. Leicester get to face bottom of the table Watford at home as -300 favorites. Watford are already on their third manager of the season and have conceded the third-most goals in the league. Vardy is -180 to score at any time, so there's a good chance his goal streak could continue. He makes for a great tournament play with his goal upside, but is tough to play in cash games because of his lack of floor points.
Adama Traore ($7,300): Traore has been a good floor player at the forward position of late. He has at least six crosses in five straight games. He is also one of a few players we can count on to draw fouls, given how good of a dribbler he is. He has drawn 10 fouls in his last three games. Wolves are a -130 home favorite against West Ham, who have allowed the fourth-most crosses per game away from home. Traore is in play for cash games with the high floor he has shown of late.
Danny Ings ($7,300): Ings has been in fine form this season, with seven goals in 14 league games. He has seen a price increase all the way up to $7,300, but it has been warranted as he has scored in three straight games. Southampton are actually favorites at -130 in this match against Norwich City, which is rare for them this season. Norwich have allowed the second-most shots per game and also have conceded the second-most goals in the league. Ings is a -130 favorite to score at anytime, which is rare for someone this cheap. Take advantage of the price and roster him in tournaments.
Midfielders to Target
James Maddison ($9,500): Maddison has had two games that are somewhat lower than the production we have come to expect from him. A home game against Watford should cure that. Watford allow the eighth-most crosses per game in the league, while Maddison is fourth in the league in crosses with 99. His 29 chances created are the seventh-most in the league. He is always a player with a high floor who's worth playing and especially in this game against Watford.
Joao Moutinho ($6,700): Moutinho has been racking up the fantasy points of late, with at least 14.7 DraftKings points in his last four games. He has been doing it through crosses, including a whopping 13 in his last match. He has taken 65 of Wolves' 72 corners, so a large majority of those set pieces will go to him. Those 65 corners are also the third-most in the Premier League. We know that Wolves are in a good spot against West Ham, so Moutinho makes for an enticing option at $6,700.
Kenny McLean ($5,800): McLean has been great for Norwich in the last three games. Since taking over the corner kick duties three matches ago, he has 21 crosses and 9 shot assists. He took all of the corner kicks in the games before Emiliano Buendia came on and took some with seven minutes remaining in the last game. Norwich picked up four desperately needed points in their last two games, so it's unlikely they change what has worked of late. This means McLean should keep his role, which has been a good one for fantasy. Norwich are road underdogs, but facing Southampton isn't really anything to be afraid of. McLean is a good value option in all formats.
Defenders to Target
Trent Alexander-Arnold ($7,100): Alexander-Arnold is once again the top defender on the slate. He still leads the league in crosses and takes corner kicks for one of the slate's biggest favorites. He got two assists in the last match against Brighton to go along with seven crosses. The great thing about playing Alexander-Arnold is that he fills a defender spot with production that you might expect from midfielders, if not more than what you can expect. That, plus the chance for the clean sheet bonus, makes him an easy play in your lineups.
Cedric Soares ($4,500): Cedric had a solid fantasy game last time out against Watford and gets another opportunity in a good matchup. He will face a Norwich team that has allowed the second-most crosses per game. Soares got six crosses in that game against Watford and has historically been a reliable crosser from the defender position. He is worth playing as a defender who will save some salary.
Ryan Fredericks ($3,700): Fredericks is is viable punt option at defense as someone who does get involved in West Ham's attack. He has 27 crosses on the season, so he's not a total zero in that department. The main appeal is that he will allow you to roster other more expensive players and should be able to do something for your lineup at just $3,700.
Goalkeepers to Target
Kasper Schmeichel ($5,800): Schmeichel gets the Watford matchup at home as a big favorite. He has 10 wins and 6 clean sheets in 14 league games this season. Now he faces Watford, the only team in the league with single-digit goals (nine).
Paulo Gazzaniga ($4,800): Gazzaniga and Tottenham are at Old Trafford facing Manchester United. It sounds scarier than it is, as Manchester United have scored as many goals as Burnley and Aston Villa this season. Tottenham have won all three games under new manager Jose Mourinho, who will be looking to for revenge against the team that fired him last season. Tottenham have a good shot of winning this game, and could keep a clean sheet as well if things break right for them.
