DraftKings Daily Fantasy Soccer Helper for Bundesliga Matchday 27

The temporary normal is that the Bundesliga is the only major soccer league in action, so we've got more games this weekend. The main slate on DraftKings only four games on Saturday, so let's look at the teams facing off, with odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook:

An interesting note is that in the first Matchweek without fans, Dortmund were the only home team to win. It will be intriguing to see if that trend continues as the games behind closed doors go on to close out the season.

Forwards to Target

Erling Haaland ($9,700): Of course Haaland was the first player to score in the Bundesliga after the restart. Since joining Dortmund in January, Haaland has scored the most goals in the league with ten. He has scored a goal every 60 minutes, a better rate than league-leading goal scorer Robert Lewandowski. Dortmund are the only team on this slate to be favored to win over the three possible results. Haaland has the best anytime goal scoring odds of any player available to roster at -140. The matchup against Wolfsburg is somewhat tough as they have conceded the third-fewest goals in the Bundesliga, but no player matches Haaland's multi-goal upside. He is a great play in tournaments as his $9,700 isn't too restrictive for someone with his goal-scoring record.

Robert Skov ($7,500): Skov was a player we identified last week as a forward who had a good floor for a price in the mid-tier. He came through with 13.8 DraftKings points despite his team losing 3-0. This week, his Hoffenheim side gets a matchup against a bottom of the league Paderborn. Paderborn allow the fourth most crosses per game in the Bundesliga. Skov got his share of corner kicks last week and should continue to do so this week. With a solid game last week in a game that saw his team failed to score, he could have an even better fantasy game if he were to contribute to a goal. Skov makes for a good play in cash games given that floor we have seen from him.

Nils Petersen ($5,000): Petersen would not have impressed anybody watching their first Freiburg match last week against RB Leipzig. It would have been hard to even have noticed him as he had only four completed passes and recorded no other statistics in his 68 minutes on the pitch. However, the context needs to be understood. Leipzig are one of the best teams in the league and have conceded the second-fewest goals. This week his Freiburg side take on Werder Bremen and the matchup couldn't be much better. Werder are in the relegation zone and have allowed the most goals in the league with 59. Petersen has double-digit goals in three consecutive seasons in the Bundesliga, and has eight in 26 appearances this season. His +140 any time goal-scoring odds are too good for a player priced at only $5,000, making him a solid value play in tournaments with the upside to bag a goal for cheap.

Midfielders to Target

Kai Havertz ($9,100): Havertz is listed as only a midfielder on DraftKings, but has been playing as a center forward for the past few games. Havertz has been in great form, scoring seven goals and adding five assists in his last eight games in all competitions. The layoff didn't hurt him at all, as he scored two goals in Leverkusen's first game back. This game should be a bit tougher against Borussia Mönchengladbach, but Havertz possesses multiple-goal upside that most midfielders do not. He bagged 17 league goals last season, tied for the third-most. Over his last nine league games, Havertz has recorded double-digit DraftKings points in eight of them, with six being over 15 points. The upside he offers isn't matched by the midfield exclusive options on this slate.

Leonardo Bittencourt ($6,800): Bittencourt may play on a poor Werder Bremen team, but he still has fantasy value. He had six crosses and assist in their 4-1 defeat against Leverkusen, and gets an easier game this week. He faces off against Freiburg, the team that has allowed 21 crosses per game, the third-most in the league according to WhoScored.com. Bittencourt took both of Werder's corner kicks in the game on Monday. It remains to be seen exactly what share of the corners he will get in the next match, but he has gotten some throughout the season. Freiburg has also allowed the most shots per game in the Bundesliga, so the opportunity for goals, assists, and shot assists should be there for Bittencourt in this match. He has a solid floor and the ceiling could easily be there given the matchup.

Pavel Kadeřábek ($5,900): Kadeřábek is actually a defender, but is listed in the midfield. He doesn't get any set-piece duty for Hoffenheim, but has still been able to rack up 29 crosses in his last four league games. He's the only player in this price range with any kind of floor. With Paderborn allowing as many crosses as they do, there is room for multiple Hoffenheim players in one lineup, so playing Kadeřábek and another player like Robert Skov is certainly viable. Kadeřábek's value and safe projection make him in consideration for any lineup build.

Emre Can ($4,000): Can is listed as questionable, but is projected to by on Bundesliga.com. He's not a player who will appeal to most fantasy players, but has gotten over seven DraftKings points in four of his five games since joining Dortmund. If he is able to get the ball to one of Dortmund's many attacking threats, he could get an assist and that would go a long way to paying off his $4,000 salary. Can is a punt that can be used to save salary in lineups to get some up to of the best expensive options.

Defenders to Target

Christian Günter ($5,800): Günter of Freiburg is the top play at the defender position on this slate. He added six crosses to his tally in his last game, making his total a whopping 214 this season. Now he gets the benefit of playing against Werder Bremen, the team that allows the most crosses per game on average in the Bundesliga. Paring Günter with Nils Petersen makes a lot of sense for tournaments to try to get the goal and the assist that would vault your lineup up the leaderboard. Facing the league's worst defense, something like this happening is certainly in the range of outcomes.

Ludwig Augustinsson ($5,100): The defender position is barren wasteland on this slate, so we'll have to look at players from even the worst teams. Augustinsson of Werder Bremen is a defender who likes to get up the pitch and put in crosses, averaging over five per 90 minutes this season, according to Rotowire. He also gets a share of set pieces, which not many defenders on this slate can say. That makes him one of the better plays available in a shallow pool of defenders.

Laurent Jans ($3,900): Another defender on a not great team is Laurent Jans from Paderborn. Jans is a solid but unspectacular player who averages over two crosses per 90 minutes, to go with over one tackle and one interception per 90 as well. Since there aren't many great defender plays, finding someone this cheap who has a relatively good floor could be the way to go. Jans is one of the better options down at this price range, at a position that may not need a ton of salary allocated to it.

Goalkeepers to Target

Roman Bürki ($5,500): Bürki's Dortmund are the biggest favorites on the slate and face a Wolfsburg side that ranks in the middle of the pack with 36 goals scored this season. He's been in good form as well, with just one goal conceded in his last five Bundesliga matches. He's clearly the top option if paying up at goalkeeper.

Leopold Zingerle ($4,300): Zingerle is the cheap option at goalkeeper if looking in that direction. He's facing Hoffenheim, who are likely to be without their top two goal scorers in Andrej Kramarić and Sargis Adamyan according to the Bundesliga's projected lineup. Goalkeeper, is a good place to save money, and Zingerle in a not too scary matchup could be the way we do that.
