Keep Your Eyes on These 7 Undrafted NFL Rookies
Krishawn Hogan and Ricky Seals-Jones, Wide Receivers
There are few better landing spots for an undrafted wide receiver hoping to make an impact than a team whose depth chart looks like that of the Arizona Cardinals’. Only J.J. Nelson and third-round pick Chad Williams are signed beyond this season. This leaves long-term opportunities for the likes of undrafted rookies Krishawn Hogan and Ricky Seals-Jones.
Hogan was a small-school find from Marian University in Indiana, one who left high school as a 5’9”, 175-pound backup receiver before blossoming into a 6’3”, 222-pound superstar in college. At NAIA (not even D-II) Marian, Hogan racked up a ridiculous 4,395 receiving yards and 42 touchdowns on 263 catches (all school records). He’s raw, and will have to polish his routes and maximize his size by high-pointing jump balls, but his physicality is top notch. In terms of athleticism, Mockdraftable.com compares him to Josh Gordon.
Seals-Jones has a much better outlook as a tight end than a receiver. The former five-star recruit to Texas A&M was a bust in his final years in school, never seeing a season with more than 50 catches, 600 yards, or 5 touchdowns. At 6’5” and 243 pounds, Seals-Jones’ strength and body shielding can be great as a receiving tight end or big (read: huge) slot receiver, but he needs to work on his cuts and consistency to live up to MockDraftable’s Jermichael Finley and Kelvin Benjamin athletic comparisons.
