Fantasy Football: 5 Undrafted Free Agents to Keep on Your Radar

James Williams, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

If Dulin hit the wide receiver jackpot for undrafted free agents in 2019, then James Williams hit the jackpot for running backs. After cutting Kareem Hunt for assaulting a woman and subsequently lying about it, the Kansas City Chiefs proceeded to roll out with Damien Williams -- himself a former undrafted free agent -- for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs and eventually extended him on a two-year contract.

After Williams, the Chiefs' depth chart is pretty thin. They signed Carlos Hyde as a free agent this offseason and drafted Utah State Aggies running back Darwin Thompson. That leaves plenty of opportunity for an undrafted free agent to ascend to fantasy relevance.

Boobie Williams is a strong candidate to be a relevant running back in fantasy, too, if he earns the opportunity. Though he is slightly undersized at 5'9" and 197 pounds, Williams posted ridiculous receiving numbers with the Washington State Cougars for a running back. In fact, he had more career receptions and receiving yards than new Seattle Seahawks second-rounder DK Metcalf.

His rushing profile doesn't exactly match what you'd expect from a productive running back -- he had just 248 total carries in his three years as the Cougars' starting running back. But the Chiefs are one of the handful of offenses in the NFL capable of properly using a running back in the passing game. Both Damien Williams and Kareem Hunt benefitted greatly from their usage as pass-catchers.

He obviously needs to climb the depth chart and make the Chiefs' final roster, but James Williams is possibly the most exciting running back in this year's undrafted class.
