Robbie Ray, P, Arizona Diamondbacks

FanDuel Price: $8,900

There is no shortage of high-end pitching on tonight's slate, and inevitably some arms will fall through the cracks and receive little attention. While you could certainly opt for guys like James Paxton or Jack Flaherty, who ought to see lower ownership in tougher matchups, it's Robbie Ray who's arguably the most likely to be largely ignored.

There's naturally good reason for this, as Ray is in a difficult spot at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and his 13.0% walk rate and 44.2% hard-hit rate have gotten him into trouble too many times this year. But he still has a 31.1% strikeout rate, and he has demonstrated his upside by exceeding 50 FanDuel points twice in his last four starts.

A matchup against the Dodgers is hardly ideal, but LA has actually posted the fourth-worst strikeout rate in the league since the All-Star break (24.1%), so there's more potential upside here than you might expect. Of course, they've also put up a 116 wRC+ over that span, so this has boom-or-bust written all over it. But this is Ray we're talking about, so you knew that going in.

Still, the upside is there, and if the chalkier plays like Corey Kluber and Stephen Strasburg don't come through, riding with Ray could prove lucrative with a strong outing.
