Red Sox place Mitch Moreland (back) on injured list
The Boston Red Sox placed first baseman Mitch Moreland on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 26, with a lower back strain.
What It Means:
Moreland has also dealt with a knee issue recently, so the Red Sox are giving him some time to heal. Michael Chavis and Steve Pearce figure to fill in at first base.
Moreland is hitting .228/.320/.550 with 13 home runs, 9 doubles, 34 RBI, and 25 runs scored in 172 plate appearances this season.
