Lewis Brinson recalled, starting Game 1 Monday for Marlins

The Miami Marlins recalled outfielder Lewis Brinson from Triple-A New Orleans.

What It Means:

Brinson has been unable to get it going at the big league level, but he's still only 25 and the Marlins want to give him another go to finish out the season. Brinson is starting in center field and batting seventh in the first half of Monday's doubleheader against right-hander Jacob deGrom and the New York Mets. Cesar Puello (hip) has been placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding roster move.

Brinson hit .270/.361/.510 with 16 homers, 56 RBI, 16 steals, and 56 runs scored in 81 games for New Orleans following his April 30 demotion. He hit just .197/.247/.263 with no homers and 28 whiffs in 27 games for Miami to start the season.
