Sonny Gray slinging for Reds on Opening Day
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Sonny Gray has been named the Opening Day starter, per Reds manager David Bell.
Gray earned the honors after posting a 2.87 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with a career-high 205 strikeouts over 175 1/3 innings (31 starts) in his first season with the Reds. Luis Castillo, Trevor Bauer, Wade Miley, and Anthony DeSclafani will fill out the rest of the rotation. Bell also said that Tyler Mahle could be a piggyback option.
numberFire's models expect Gray to record a 3.84 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 71 strikeouts and 23 walks over 63 1/3 innings this season.
