Angels: Julio Teheran may not make Opening Day
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Julio Teheran might not be ready for the start of the season, according to Joe Maddon.
Teheran is currently awaiting results from a COVID-19 test. He's hoping to join the Angels by the weekend, but Maddon said Teheran still may not be ready for Opening Day. Any missed starts will be more consequential than normal due to the truncated schedule. The 29-year-old right-hander signed with Angels in free agency after spending the first nine years of his MLB career with the Atlanta Braves. He spun a three-year low 3.81 ERA with 162 strikeouts over 174 2/3 innings last season.
numberFire's models expect Teheran to record a 4.94 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 51 strikeouts, 23 walks, and 10 home runs allowed over 54 2/3 innings this season.
