Carlos Quentin

Carlos Quentin signs minor league deal with Twins

The Minnesota Twins signed outfielder/designated hitter Carlos Quentin to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

What It Means:

Quentin announced last May he was retiring, but reports came out in November saying he was attempting a comeback. Quentin is only 33 years-old, but he has dealt with all kinds of injuries late in his career. He last appeared in the majors on July 26, 2014 as a pinch hitter, so the Twins should not have high expectations. Even if Quentin is able to show some flashes during spring training, it's possible the Twins won't have space for him on their Opening Day roster.

Quentin has played in more than 86 games in a season just once since 2011, and 131 games played is his career high. He does own a career .361 wOBA and .232 Isolated Power, but it's possible injuries have derailed his career for good. Quentin has only played in 218 games since 2011.
