Charlie Blackmon (COVID-19) could be ready for Colorado opener

The Colorado Rockies are hopeful outfielder Charlie Blackmon (COVID-19) will be ready for Opening Day.

What It Means:

The Rockies placed Blackmon on the injured list Wednesday as a procedural move. He was able to report to camp earlier in the week and has been asymptomatic, so Blackmon seems to have a solid shot at suiting up for Opening Day on July 24 versus the Texas Rangers. He's expected to work out of the Rockies' three-hole this season while David Dahl takes over leadoff duties. The 34-year-old veteran slashed .314/.364/.576 with 32 home runs, 42 doubles, 7 triples, 86 RBI, and 112 runs scored last season.

numberFire's models expect Blackmon to post a .303 batting average and .872 OPS with 10 homers, 31 RBI, and 40 runs scored in 240 plate appearances this season.
