Willson Contreras on Cubs' bench Wednesday afternoon
Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Dinelson Lamet and the San Diego Padres.
What It Means:
Contreras will take an apparent breather after going 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Padres. P.J. Higgins will catch right-hander Adbert Alzolay and hit eighth on Wednesday afternoon. Joc Pederson has been bumped back up to the leadoff spot after Contreras led off on Tuesday.
