Austin Meadows moving to Tampa Bay's bench Wednesday

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Austin Meadows is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's interleague road game against right-hander Zack Wheeler and the Philadelphia Phillies.

What It Means:

Meadows is taking a breather as the Rays wrap up a two-game set in Philadelphia. Randy Arozarena, Kevin Kiermaier, and Brett Phillips are starting across the outfield for Tampa Bay, who is without a designated hitter in a National League park. Arozarena is hitting cleanup and Phillips is hitting fifth with Kiermaier in the seven-hole.

numberFire’s models project Phillips for 10.3 FanDuel points and he has a $2,500 salary on Wednesday’s main slate. Arazorena is projected for 11.2 FanDuel points with a $3,700 salary. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Rays' implied total is the second-lowest in the majors on Wednesday night. Wheeler is registering a 29.1 strikeout percentage and a 5.4 walk percentage this season, with a 2.71 xERA and a .254 xwOBA, the latter two of which both rank in the top six percent of the league.
