Jose Abreu joining White Sox's bench Monday
Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against right-hander Matt Manning and the Detroit Tigers.
Abreu went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Texas Rangers. The 34-year-old veteran has driven in multiple runs in three of his last four games. Brian Goodwin is replacing Abreu as the White Sox's designated hitter and batting ninth Monday. Gavin Sheets is covering first base.
numberFire’s models project Goodwin for 8.6 FanDuel points and he has a $2,300 salary on Monday’s slate. Sheets is our fourth-best point-per-dollar value, with a projection of 11.7 FanDuel points and a $2,300 salary. Manning is registering a 13.8 strike out percentage that ranks in the bottom 2% of the league this season, and a .286 xBA that ranks in the bottom 5%.
