Cubs' Nelson Velazquez idle Tuesday afternoon
Chicago Cubs outfielder Nelson Velazquez is not in the starting lineup against right-hander Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader.
Velazquez started against a lefty in Monday's series opener, but he's returning to the bench for the early game Tuesday. Rafael Ortega will replace Velazquez in center field and hit sixth. Nico Hoerner will bat second after hitting sixth in the opener.
Ortega has a $4,500 salary on Tuesday's early single-game slate and numberFire’s models project him for 8.8 FanDuel points. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Cubs’ implied total (3.66) is in the bottom-third of the majors on Tuesday.
