Guardians' Triston McKenzie (shoulder) out 2-8 weeks

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Triston McKenzie has been diagnosed with a strain of the teres major muscle in his right shoulder.

What It Means:

The Guardians will shut down McKenzie for at least two weeks, but it could be up to eight weeks before the right-hander is ready to return. This is a disappointing start to the 2023 campaign after McKenzie broke out last year with a 2.96 ERA and 0.95 WHIP across 191 1/3 innings (31 games). Xzavion Curry will be on the Guardians' season-opening roster in place of McKenzie.

McKenzie averaged 36.2 FanDuel points as a starter last season while registering a 25.6 strikeout percentage and 5.9 walk percentage.
