Red Sox's Reese McGuire (oblique) lands on IL
The Boston Red Sox placed catcher Reese McGuire on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right oblique strain.
McGuire was removed from Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins due to the injury. The Red Sox called up Caleb Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding roster move. Hamilton will serve as Connor Wong's backup while McGuire is on the shelf. Wong will catch for Justin Garza and hit seventh in Thursday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Joe Ryan and the Minnesota Twins.
numberFire’s models project Wong ($2,600) for 8.4 FanDuel points on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Red Sox's implied total is 4.00 and the game total is 9.0. Ryan's xERA (2.44) and walk rate (4.5%) both rank in the 96th percentile this season.
