Nationals' Blake Rutherford hitting eighth Tuesday in Game 1

Washington Nationals outfielder Blake Rutherford will start in left field and bat eighth against right-hander Zack Wheeler and the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader.

What It Means:

Stone Garrett was set to start in left field over Rutherford on Monday before the game was postponed. The Phillies are expected to send left-hander Ranger Suarez to the mound in the second game Tuesday, so the left-handed hitting Rutherford will likely be on the bench for that one. Garrett is not in the Game 1 lineup for Washington.

Rutherford has a $4,500 salary on the single-game slate and numberFire’s models project him for 6.7 FanDuel points. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Nationals' implied total is second-lowest of the day at 3.30 and the game total is 8.5. Wheeler has been elite this season, with a 3.27 xERA, 36.7% hard-hit rate, 27.4% strikeout rate, and 4.6% walk rate.
