Yankees place Billy McKinney (back) on IL
The New York Yankees placed outfielder Billy McKinney on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left lower back spasm.
What It Means:
The Yankees also designated outfielder Greg Allen for assignment and called up outfield prospect Everson Pereira from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. Pereira will replace McKinney in left field and hit seventh in his MLB debut on Tuesday against right-hander Josiah Gray and the Washington Nationals.
