Nationals' Carter Kieboom on hot corner Thursday

Washington Nationals infielder Carter Kieboom will start on third base and bat fifth in Thursday afternoon's series finale against the New York Yankees due to lightheadedness.

What It Means:

Kieboom could see regular starts at third base after the Nationals lost Stone Garrett to a fractured fibula. Jake Alu is expected to cover left field while Ildemaro Vargas will primarily play second base, setting up Kieboom on the hot corner. He went 1-for-3 with a solo homer on Tuesday in his first game back in the big leagues.

numberFire’s models project Kieboom ($2,000) for 5.8 and Vargas ($2,400) for 6.8 FanDuel points on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Nationals' implied total is 3.59, second-lowest on the board, and the game total is 8.5. Jhony Brito will serve as a bulk reliever for the Yankees behind opener Michael King in the matinee. He has a weak 17.3% strikeout rate and elevated 5.43 xERA across 64 2/3 innings this season.
