Ernie Clement called up by Blue Jays, hitting eighth Monday
Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement is starting at shortstop and hitting eighth in Monday's series opener against right-hander Josiah Gray and the Washington Nationals.
The Blue Jays called up Clement from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday to replace Matt Chapman (finger) on the active roster. He is replacing Bo Bichette (quad) at shortstop in Monday's matchup with the Nationals. Clement could see regular playing time if Bichette joins Chapman on the injured list.
numberFire’s models project Clement ($2,000) for 6.4 FanDuel points on Monday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Blue Jays' implied total is 4.84 and the game total is 8.0. Gray is hiding a disappointing 4.96 xERA behind his 3.85 ERA this season while on pace for career-worsts in strikeout rate (19.9%) and walk rate (11.3%).
