Michael Stefanic to start in place of Shohei Ohtani (oblique) for Angels Monday

The Los Angeles Angels will start Michael Stefanic in place of Shohei Ohtani (scratch) for Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.

What It Means:

The Angels scratched Ohtani, who was slated to bat second as their designated hitter, from their lineup during the team's pre-game batting practice due to oblique tightness. While the star recovers from what is hopefully a minor injury, Michael Stefanic will return to the lineup, batting sixth as the Angels' designated hitter.

Stefanic has only made 30 plate appearances so far this season, but has yet to turn in much production in the majors. He's batting .160 with a .500 OPS in those appearances, with 0 home runs, 3 runs, and 3 RBI.
