Rays' Curtis Mead sitting Thursday

Tampa Bay Rays infielder Curtis Mead is not in the lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Griffin Canning and the Los Angeles Angels.

What It Means:

Jonathan Aranda will start at designated hitter and bat eighth while Yandy Diaz shifts to first base. Isaac Paredes will slide over to the hot corner in place of Mead and bat third.

numberFire’s models project Paredes ($3,000) for 12.7 FanDuel points and he's a top-five point-per-dollar value among batters on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Rays' implied total is 4.51 and the game total is 7.5. Canning has a solid 26.0% strikeout rate (top 70th percentile of league) and a 6.3% walk rate (top 80th) this season, but he does permit plenty of hard hits (bottom 14th).
