Alec Burleson on Cardinals bench Monday night
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder/designated hitter Alec Burleson is not in the lineup for Monday's series opener against right-hander Matt Waldron and the San Diego Padres.
Burleson is absent for the first time this season. He went a combined 3-for-14 with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and 5 strikeouts in the Cardinals' season-opening series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Matt Carpenter will take over at DH and bat sixth. Jordan Walker will start in right field again.
numberFire's models project Carpenter for 9.1 FanDuel points on Monday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Cardinals' implied total (4.02) is No. 18 in the majors today.
