Kerry Carpenter on Tigers bench Friday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter is not in the lineup for Friday afternoon's series opener against left-hander JP Sears and the Oakland Athletics.
What It Means:
The left-handed hitting Carpenter will take a seat against the Athletics' southpaw. Mark Canha will start at designated hitter and bat fifth on Friday afternoon. Matt Vierling will man right field and lead things off for Detroit. Parker Meadows will hit ninth.
