Salvador Perez (groin/hip) out Monday for Royals
Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (groin/hip) is not in the lineup for Monday's series opener against right-hander Nick Nastrini and the Chicago White Sox.
Perez is absent for the first time this season after leaving Sunday's series finale early against the New York Mets with groin and hip issues. Freddy Fermin will catch for Seth Lugo and hit eighth on Monday. Nick Loftin will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth. Nelson Velazquez will start in right field over Hunter Renfroe.
numberFire's models project Fermin for 9.9 FanDuel points on Monday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Royals' implied total (4.43) is tied for No. 8 in the majors today.
