Esteury Ruiz leading off for Athletics Wednesday afternoon
Oakland Athletics outfielder Esteury Ruiz will start in center field and bat leadoff in Wednesday afternoon's series finale against left-hander Steven Matz and the St. Louis Cardinals.
What It Means:
Ruiz was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday and played off the bench in the first two games of the series, but he will lead things off Wednesday afternoon. Abraham Toro will bat fifth after leading off the last nine games. JJ Bleday will take a breather after covering center field. Tyler Nevin will bat second and Zack Gelof will hit third.
