Brandon Belt sitting out on Friday for Giants

San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Washington Nationals.

What It Means:

The Giants are going with a heavy right-handed hitting lineup against southpaw Gio Gonzalez. Both Belt and second baseman Joe Panik are sitting Friday. Buster Posey will start at first base, with Trevor Brown filling in behind the plate, and Ehire Adrianza will start at second.

Belt is having an impressive season, slashing .283/.395/.481 with 12 home runs and a .376 wOBA in 443 plate appearances. We project him to hit .268/.373/.481 with nine taters and a .362 wOBA over the rest of the year.
