David Phelps

Mariners acquire David Phelps from Marlins for four prospects

The Seattle Mariners acquired right-handed pitcher David Phelps from the Miami Marlins for outfielder Brayan Hernandez, right-handed pitcher Brandon Miller, right-hander Pablo Lopez, and right-hander Lucas Schiraldi.

What It Means:

Phelps will work as a setup man in Seattle ahead of Edwin Diaz, while the Marlins were able to provide a boost to their farm system. The 30-year-old right-hander has recorded a 3.45 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 25.9 strikeout percentage across 47 innings this season.

numberFire's models project Phelps to record a 3.74 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 24.8 strikeout percentage in 31 1/3 innings over the remainder of the year.
