Marco Estrada blanks Yankees in Blue Jays' victory
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marco Estrada pitched seven shutout innings on Thursday as his club defeated the New York Yankees 4-0.
While scattering five hits over seven, Estrada struck out six and issued three free passes on Thursday night. By using his fastball just 50% of the time, and being effective with his changeup, he forced the Yankees into six groundouts and nine flyball outs in the shutout effort.
Estrada has had a rough year, however, he's been very good in his last 3 starts. Since July 31st, the 34-year-old is 1-0 with a 3.52 FIP and a tidy 15.3% hard-hit rate against. We project him for a 3-3 record and 48 strikeouts over 54-plus innings the rest of the season.
