Giants' Tim Hudson to retire after 2015 season
San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Hudson reaffirmed his desire to retire following the 2015 season Tuesday after a solid start against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The 40-year-old Hudson, "This is definitely my last year, for sure. It’s the right thing to do. It’s the right time for me and my family." In the outing, Hudson allowed one run on four hits over six innings while walking none and striking out four. Hudson also hit a home run, his first of the season and the fourth of his career.
It looks like Hudson will now stick in the rotation after the solid outing. His xFIP is still a respectable 4.01, considering his age. He only averages 4.84 strikeouts per nine innings, but his 55.9 percent ground-ball rate has kept him usable. With how long Hudson has been putting up solid numbers, you have to hope he can round out 2015 with several good outings.
