Twins' Torii Hunter expected to retire
Minnesota Twins outfielder Torii Hunter has decided to retire, according to La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Hunter just wrapped up his age-39 season, his 19th overall in the majors and his 12th with the Twins. Over his career, Hunter hit 353 home runs, stole 195 bases, went to 4 All-Star games, and won 9 Gold Glove awards.
Hunter will largely be remembered for his defense, but his offense was incredibly consistent throughout his career. He hit at least 20 home runs in 11 different seasons, including 22 dingers this year. Those 22 homers are the 10th most all time of any player in their age-39 season or later.
