Jose Martinez getting a breather for Cardinals on Thursday
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman/right fielder Jose Martinez is out of Thursday's lineup versus the Washington Nationals.
It appears to be a routine breather for Martinez, who has hit safely in seven straight games, raising his batting average from .292 to .305 for the season. Matt Carpenter will cover first base again and Tyler O'Neill will replace Martinez in right field while Dexter Fowler remains sidelined with a fractured left foot.
Martinez is averaging 9.2 FanDuel points per game this season. numberFire's models project him to hit .294 with 6 homers and 22 RBI over the rest of the year.
